Pretreatment of soil or gravel fill, foundations, and concrete slab substrate is recommended for the prevention of termites and subslab ant problems prior to the construction of a house or commercial building. Application of a termiticide is typically provided after building foundations are constructed, but before any concrete slabs have been poured. This preventative application is money well spent if you’re building in an area known to have termites or for food or medical facilities where chronic subslab ant problems are intolerable.
This treatment is building code law in states with serious termite problems. It may also be necessary to satisfy VA, FHA, FmHA or HUD loan requirements. A variety of termiticide products are available for this use.
